The RFId Solution Center offers various services to companies who are interested in approaching RFId technologies:

RFId Assessment

RFId Assessments are the Center’s core activity. These assessments involve the realization of a complete and technology-independent feasibility analysis which aims to demonstrate the technological feasibility and assess the economic value for the customer of an RFId-based application.

An RFId Assessment consists of two parts: an economic analysis and a technological evaluation. The former analyzes the current business processes and evaluates the organizational and informational impacts in terms of both efficiency and effectiveness. The technological evaluation provides a benchmark based on different, concurrent technological solutions, assessing significant performances and identifying one or more desirable solution, subsequently described in detail. All the analyses are summarized in an investment evaluation giving proof of concept and guiding the customer in the choice of implementation strategy.

• The project innovativeness: the proposal must be innovative – from a managerial or technological perspective – with respect to other existing applications;
• The project attractiveness: proposals which are significant for the industry or the supply chain are preferred;
• The commissioning company (“customer”) must be a end user and not a vendor or a solution provider.

The customer is required to pay a commissioning “token” to demonstrate commitment to the project.

Specialist services

In cases of specific needs, the Center offers the following specialist services:

• technological benchmarking;
• national and international regulation analysis;
• measurement of the functional limits of RFId equipment;
• measurement of RF emissions of RFId equipment;
• design of shieldings and containment devices;
• measurement of electromagnetic compatibility;
• RF simulation with software modeling electromagnetic fields;
• Training on RFId equipment.

Demo Services

For events and fairs, the Center carries out demo services for associations, e.g. simulating an RFId-based process. The implementation can be at the Center, using equipment from the RFId Solution Center or the EPC Lab (GS1 Italy), at the customer facilities, or at the fair.
