The RFId Solution Center is an applied research center, jointly founded in October 2006 by the School of Management and the Department of Electronics and Information of Politecnico di Milano.

The Center’s mission is to develop applied research activities in order to carry out RFId assessments projects in leading Italian and international companies and supply chains. Companies which are considering whether to apply RFId technology or not can resort to the RFId Solution Center to carry out an “RFId assessment” project, i.e. a technological and economical feasibility analysis which is independent from any vendor endorsement, realized “ad hoc” for the commissioning company and aimed at demonstrating the technological feasibility and the economic value of the hypothesized application. The RFId assessment thus becomes the first step towards pilot projects or subsequent operative implementation.

The RFId Solution Center is the first example in Italy of a “complete” center: managerial and technological competencies, academic research and consulting are used together to provide applied research on RFId that takes account of various application areas and industries, covering all RFId technologies from passive LF to Wireless Sensor Networks.

Since its foundation, the RFId Solution Center to has completed about 25 RFId assessment projects, in various industries such as Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Food, Automotive, Petro-chemical, Pharmaceutical and Healthcare.
